Last week, I uploaded all my [Walking with Piotrek](https://nerdontour.net/tag/walking-with-piotrek/) vlog videos to nerdontour.net. It's actually part of my bigger plan to make this site the hub for all my content.

Platforms are investing billions of dollars to hook users. But it's like trying to keep people at a shopping mall. Constantly luring you in with flashy sales, but it only ends in repeatable outrage.

[Ghost 6.0Networked publishing, native analytics, and $100M earned by indie publishers![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/16/3e/163e6ae2-f4f9-4a47-9fd9-81c2af8159f2/content/images/icon/ghost-orb-orange-squircle-04.png)ChangelogJohn O’Nolan![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/16/3e/163e6ae2-f4f9-4a47-9fd9-81c2af8159f2/content/images/thumbnail/feat-1.png)](https://ghost.org/changelog/6/?ref=nerdontour.net)

That's why I'm excited about the new wave of the Internet. [Social Web](https://ghost.org/changelog/6/?ref=nerdontour.net) is already here. Like many early technologies, it's messy. But it's a great alternative to dominating, centralized, ad-driven platforms. Platforms that the younger generation are using less and less.

The beauty of the Social Web (aka Fediverse) is diversity. It's an interoperable network of separately maintained servers, But I already see the benefits. I run this blog on Ghost Pro with a universal handle:

[Social web (Beta)💡Currently in beta This is a new feature in active development. If you run into issues or have feedback, please share it on the Ghost forum. Ghost makes it possible to publish content online with a website, and to deliver your content via RSS feeds and email newsletters. Now, we’![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/16/3e/163e6ae2-f4f9-4a47-9fd9-81c2af8159f2/content/images/icon/favicon-3.ico)Ghost Help CenterGhost![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/16/3e/163e6ae2-f4f9-4a47-9fd9-81c2af8159f2/content/images/thumbnail/help-site-cover-1.png)](https://ghost.org/help/social-web/?ref=nerdontour.net)

Please note, that the functionality may be limited. For example, Threads currently only allow following and liking posts. But it doesn't allow commenting, reposting, etc.

How @piotrek@nerdontour.net shows up on Threads.com

## The one place for all my content

Initially, I started nerdontour.net just to share my digital nomad journey. Over time, I realized that my experience can be helpful for others, and that offering different formats can better address the needs of my audience.

Moreover, my recent trips also exposed the limits of the giant platforms. For example, Spotify embeds of my podcasts don't load in Cambodia. And YouTube embeds don't load in China.

A diverse audience of my blog deserve a solution that works globally

Therefore, I want to ensure that anyone and anywhere could access my content. Yes, I'll keep uploading my videos to [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCogSWptoe6LIa7Dw1SoDBhg?sub%5Fconfirmation=1&ref=nerdontour.net), photos on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/nerdontour/?ref=nerdontour.net), podcasts to [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/show/7ncVtvERp058pd7AkIf0wy?go=1&sp%5Fcid=cd9016684ceabc4a7378091ec82131d7&utm%5Fsource=embed%5Fplayer%5Fp&utm%5Fmedium=desktop&si=2a2a77c5c1404014), and short posts on [Threads](https://www.threads.com/@nerdontour?ref=nerdontour.net).

However, the copy of all of them will remain here, on nerdontour.net. With native players that don't require embeds, spy pixels, and are not geo-blocked by current political agenda of a given country.

Most importantly, nerdontour.net remains the place where I publish my articles, as written word remains my primary way to communicate with the world.
