Last year I started experimenting with a new content format. Inspired by travel vloggers, I published my vlog. The first video was a live stream on Instagram on May 4th 2025. But I realized several issues:

  • Poor stream quality results in inferior recording quality.
  • Auto-generated Instagram captions are often incorrect.
  • I can't download the recording and redistribute it outside of Instagram.
  • Since my friends live worldwide, live streaming won't fit anyone's time zone.
  • If the app crashes during the stream or editing, you permanently lose the recording.

I recorded my next 24+ videos with the iPhone's default Camera app. Rode VideoMic Me-C+ improved the sound quality, and the iPhone 17 Pro selfie camera improved the video quality. Knowing that most people watch muted videos on social media, I added corrected captions generated in Canva.

Walking with Piotrek: back in KL after a trip to Japan
Back in the lush beauty of Kuala Lumpur’s botanical garden for the latest episode of “Walking with Piotrek”! I’ve been away exploring my favorite travel destination, Japan, where I finally visited Nagasaki and the breathtaking Nachi waterfall. Japanese culture has fascinated me since childhood, and every trip there

Each Walking with Piotrek vlog is a monologue of up to 3-minute about nomadic topics. I follow up on the creative constraint set by my favorite vlogbrothers, who strive to keep their videos below 4 minutes. This duration is also because of YouTube Shorts' limit. While I started recording them for Instagram, I figured it's best to distribute my vlog on multiple platforms. Subscribe where you prefer to watch new episodes of my vlog:

And this brings me to Spotify and regular podcasting. Active listening remains my preferred way to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and music. Especially while walking. However, since 2020, video podcasts have become a dominant category. The Diary Of A CEO rose to be one of the top channels, prompting entrepreneurial Steven Bartlett to launch his own podcast hosting company. His FlightCast proves that video and audio podcasts have converged, as audiences expect YouTube long-form videos to be available as audio. Conversely, they also expect audio podcasts to have videos available on YouTube.

Knowing that, I'm working on turning my audio podcasts into valuable YouTube videos. Meanwhile, I want to ensure that my Walking with Piotrek is accessible on another platform. On Spotify.

I already host my audio podcasts there. With Walking with Piotrek and going a step further. I admire Spotify vying with YouTube. Giving creators, like me, opportunities to reach vast audiences. From now on, my vlog is also available on Spotify, where you can choose to watch or listen to it. Walking with Piotrek is available in audio form on all other podcast platforms.

Sometimes, in the vlog, I refer to my surroundings. Therefore, for some listeners, the vlog experienced only in audio may be limiting. However, the core content is in my monologues.

By adding Walking with Piotrek (and the audio version of my articles) to my podcast feed, I strive to:

  • consistently deliver great digital nomad content,
  • offer you the flexibility to consume it on the platform of your choice.

Enjoy your walks and see you on the road!
